Walter Hartwell White Sr., also known under his nickname Walt and his clandestine alias Heisenberg, is the main protagonist of the Breaking Bad TV series, being a lung cancer-infected former chemist and current drug maker/dealer.

White was born September 7, 1959, and was violently traumatized by his father's tragic death at a young age. Years later, White proved to be a brilliant chemist at the California Institute of Technology and later found Gray Matter Technologies, a research facility, with his friend Elliott Schwartz. Walter was also in a relationship with Gretchen, the lab assistant, but left her and sold Elliott all rights to the company for $5,000. Gretchen and Elliott then got married before evolving Gray Matter Technologies in a multi-million dollar organization.

While White contains no glaring physical capabilities, he is especially skilled at chemistry and incorporates this in his drug making career, being extremely knowledgeable when it comes to identifying and experimenting with chemicals. He is also an experienced successful manager, being the former head of Gray Matter Technologies and his infamous drug empire.
